What is Teflon?

Teflon hose is made by a special pipe which  we called PTFE material, it has to go through press sintering, desiccation, high temperature sintering and other processes, and finally through a certain way to finalize the shape. Teflon, generally known as “non-stick coating” or “easy to clean wok material”; It is a synthetic polymer material that uses fluorine to replace all the hydrogen atoms in polyethylene. Nylon is the United States outstanding scientist Carothers (Carothers) and his leadership of a research team developed, is the world’s first synthetic fiber.

 

Difference between PTFE and nylon

1. Teflon generally has a density of more than 2, while nylon has a density of about 1.2. Ptfe density is relatively dense, high temperature resistance and hardness will be relatively good, and nylon tube is relatively soft, high temperature resistance than PTFE tube is poor, but because it is relatively soft, so it can adapt to more terrain.

2. Teflon performance is super high temperature resistance, super corrosion resistance, super wear resistance, ultra-low friction coefficient. Nylon in high temperature resistance, corrosion resistance is general, wear resistance is medium, high friction coefficient.

Why the connector has a olive?

1. It has a better leakproofness.

 2. High-flow, smooth bore and a carbonized construction to enable a static charge to safely transmit to the hose end to avoid perforation.

The advantages of PTFE:

1. High temperature resistance. Its use temperature can reach 250℃, the general plastic temperature reaches 100℃, the plastic will melt .But teflon can reach 250℃ and still maintain the overall structure unchanged, and even the instant temperature can reach 300℃, there will be no change in physical morphology.

2Low temperature resistance, at the low temperature down to -190℃, it can still maintain 5% elongation.

3. Corrosion resistance. For most chemicals and solvents, it exhibits an inert, resistant to strong acids and bases, water and a variety of organic solvents.

4. Weather resistance. Teflon does not absorb moisture, does not burn, and it is extremely stable to oxygen, ultraviolet light, so it has the best aging life in plastic.

5.High lubrication. Teflon is so smooth that even ice can’t compete with it, so it has the lowest coefficient of friction among solid materials.

6. Non-adhesion. Because the oxygen – carbon chain intermolecular force is extremely low, it does not adhere to anything.

7. No poison. So it is usually used in medical treatment, as artificial blood vessels, cardiopulmonary bypass, rhinoplasty and other applications, as an organ implanted in the body for a long time without adverse reactions.

8. Electrical insulation. It can withstand up to 1500 volts.
